I. INTRODUCTION

PURPOSE OF THIS DOCUMENT

This file provides specific installation, compatibility, and troubleshooting information. For additional information about product features and driver features, see the product user guide and the online help that is included with each software component.

SUPPORTED OPERATING SYSTEMS

The CD that ships with your product includes software for the following operating systems:

Windows® XP 32-bit (Service Pack 2 and higher)

Windows Vista 32-bit and 64-bit

Windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit

Windows Server 2003 32-bit

Windows Server 2008 32-bit and 64-bit

Windows 8 32-bit and 64-bit

The following operating systems support the recommended software components:

Windows® XP 32-bit (Service Pack 2 and higher)

Windows Vista 32-bit and 64-bit

Windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit

Windows 8 32-bit and 64-bit

The recommended software includes the following components:

HP LaserJet Pro MFP M125-M126/M127-M128 PCLmS (Required)

HP LaserJet Pro MFP M125-M126/M127-M128 Scan Driver (Required)

HP Help and Learn Center (Optional)

HP Printer Status and Alerts (Optional)

HP Scan (Optional)

HP Update (Optional)

HP Device Toolbox (Optional)

HP Product Improvement Study (Optional)

HP Device Experience (Optional)

The following operating systems support only the minimum software components:

Windows Server 2003 32-bit

Windows Server 2008 32-bit and 64-bit

The minimum software includes the following components:

HP LaserJet PCLmS print driver

HP Scan driver

To install the software from the CD, the computer hard disk must have 200 MB available space.

OVERVIEW OF THE SOFTWARE COMPONENTS

The Windows CD-ROM has software for IBM-compatible computer systems. For more information about a particular driver or software component, see its associated online help.

Drivers

A driver is software that allows software applications to access product features. Typically, you should install drivers for each product. The product software CD-ROM that came with your product includes the following Windows drivers:

HP PCLmS print driver for the supported operating systems listed above

HP WIA Scan driver, that includes TWAIN compatibility

Additional drivers might be available from your HP distributor or from online sources. See the "Technical Assistance" section of this document or the product user guide for more information about obtaining drivers and other HP software.

Software Applications

HP Help and Learn Center

The HP Help and Learn center is installed with the recommended software set and is the access point for product documentation and help. To view the product documentation without installing the recommended software, insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive, when the installer screen appears, click the button on the left hand of the screen that is associated to documentation.

HP Device Toolbox

HP Device Toolbox provides product status information such as toner and paper levels, and it also provides pop-up alert messages when attention is needed at the product. HP Device Toolbox is also used to configure the product settings.

Uninstaller

The Uninstaller allows you to remove the Windows HP product components. See the "Uninstaller" section for instructions.

II. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

The CD-ROM setup or installation software detects the version and language of the operating system that you are running.

Windows installation when using a USB cable:

1.
Connect the USB cable to the computer and the product.

2.
Follow the on-screen instructions through the Directly connect this computer to a USB cable path.

Note: If the installation program does not start automatically, the AutoPlay feature might be disabled on the computer. If this happens click on the Windows Start button and select Computer (or My Computer), then double click on the HP device. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Note: If the install program fails, disconnect the USB cable, turn the product off and then on again, and then insert the product CD into your computer. Follow the on-screen instructions. Connect the cable only when the software prompts you.

Windows installation for networked printers (wired or wireless):

Insert the CD into the computer and follow the on-screen instructions.

Note: If you are using a wired network, connect the network cable before inserting the CD.

Installation for Mac OS X (USB or network):

Insert the CD into the computer and follow the on-screen instructions.

Note: If you are using a USB or wired network connection, connect the USB or network cable before inserting the CD.

UNINSTALLER

The uninstall utility is available if the recommended or minimum software has been installed. The Uninstaller removes the HP product software components.

From the Start menu, select All Programs, and then click HP. If you have more than one HP product choose the specific product and then click Uninstall from the program group.

Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the software uninstall.
